Do families have to be Muslim to attend Bismillah Daycare?
No. Children and families of every faith, culture, and background are warmly welcomed. Our program is guided by Islamic values such as kindness, compassion, gratitude, honesty, respect, cleanliness, and care for others—values that families from many different backgrounds appreciate. Every child is treated with love, dignity, and respect.
What does “Bismillah” mean?
“Bismillah” means “In the name of Allah.” Our name reflects our intention to begin each day and every act of care with purpose, gratitude, compassion, and trust in God. These values guide the loving and respectful environment we create for every child.
Does Bismillah Daycare offer an Islamic curriculum?
Yes. We provide a gentle, age-appropriate, Quran-integrated program that supports children’s spiritual, emotional, social, and academic development. Children are introduced to Islamic values and good character through short duas, Quranic stories, Islamic manners, Arabic letters and words, and everyday lessons about kindness, patience, gratitude, honesty, and respect. Our faith-based learning is thoughtfully combined with play, creativity, exploration, and early academic instruction to help prepare children for pre-K and future learning.
What are your hours of operation?
Bismillah Daycare is open from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Our extended hours are designed to support working parents who need dependable, full-day childcare.
Are you open year-round and on holidays?
Yes. We provide year-round care, including holidays, to support parents whose work does not follow a traditional schedule. This makes our program especially helpful for healthcare professionals, first responders, public-safety employees, essential workers, and other parents who may need reliable care during early mornings, long shifts, and holidays. Families will always be informed in advance of any exceptional closures caused by emergencies, severe weather, or circumstances beyond our control.
Do you accept the DC childcare subsidy voucher?
Yes. Bismillah Daycare accepts the DC childcare subsidy voucher as well as private-pay families. Families who need assistance understanding the enrollment or subsidy process are encouraged to contact us.
Are meals and snacks provided?
Yes. We provide nutritious meals and snacks as part of our whole-child approach. Our meals are prepared with care and focus on wholesome foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and other nourishing ingredients. We aim to limit heavily processed and unnecessarily sugary foods while helping children develop healthy eating habits from an early age. Please inform us about any food allergies, dietary restrictions, or special nutritional needs during enrollment.
Do parents have to provide diapers and wipes?
No. Diapers and wipes are provided, helping families save time and reducing the number of supplies they must pack and bring each day. Parents should share any allergies, sensitivities, preferred sizes, or special diapering needs with us.
Do parents need to bring blankets and sheets?
No. We provide the necessary bedding for rest time and take care of washing and maintaining it. Parents do not have to bring bedding home, wash it, and return it each week.
What does my child need to bring each day?
Our goal is to make each family’s daily routine as simple and stress-free as possible. Because meals, snacks, diapers, wipes, and bedding are provided, parents do not have to carry multiple supplies back and forth every day. You can place your child in our loving and capable hands and continue your day knowing that their care, comfort, nourishment, learning, and safety are our priorities. We will let you know during enrollment if your child needs any personal or age-specific items.

Do you offer transportation?
Transportation is not available at this time. However, we are working toward offering safe and dependable pick-up and drop-off services in the future. Families will be notified when transportation becomes available.
